It's Just Fanatical Legions

People are reading way too much into Trump's defenders

“Fanatical legions worshipping at the shrine of my father’s skull” is basically how I think about the MAGA defense of tariffs. These aren’t rational people playing 4D chess. They aren’t rooting for a market crash so that they can see the liberal capital class squirm (Republicans buy shoes stocks too). They are simply fanatical legions worshipping their leader.

You really think that any one of these people believes a word they are saying? The same people who voted for Trump because he promised to bring down prices?

If you still don’t believe me, then take it directly from the source.

In 2016, Trump famously claimed that he could shoot somebody on 5th Avenue and still not lose any voters. This is unironically the most true thing he has ever said. He talked about grabbing women by the pussy, didn’t lose any votes. He claimed the 2020 election was stolen, and not only did he not lose any votes, but he has turned previously reasonable thinkers into unhinged election deniers. And now he has admitted to intentionally tanking the economy, and instead of losing votes, his supporters are in full “thank you sir, can I have another?” mode.

There are a few reasons why liberals and others in the opposition fail to grasp this. To start, they just vastly overestimate the average IQ of these people. The average Trump defender isn’t reading macroeconomic theory or engaging with opposing viewpoints. They are in an echo bubble of propaganda, and they just go along with the vibes. It’s unserious vibe governing.

But, sadly, the main reason liberals claim that the MAGA voters are rooting for a crash to fuck them over is because that’s the type of move the liberals themselves would and have pull(ed). It’s like a serial cheater who has a hard time trusting women. In the same way that he can’t imagine his girlfriend not cheating because he himself always cheats, the liberal suffering from TDS can’t imagine not rooting for a crash to fuck over your opponents.

Basically, both parties are full of snakes, but for now, don’t think of Trump defenders like this.
